Dyson announces Zone air purifying headphones price
Dyson officially announced on Dec. 8 the official price of the Zone, the air purifying headphones with active noise cancellation announced earlier this year, starting at a whopping $949. The headphones will first be available in China in January 2023, followed by the US, UK, Hong Kong and Singapore in March.

As previously announced, the headphones feature a dual purification system that effectively filters out pollutants and harmful gases in the city; the electrostatic filter will provide up to 12 months of use before being replaced. In terms of audio, the Zone headphones use 40 mm neodymium drivers and support active noise cancellation of up to 38 dB; wireless connectivity will support Bluetooth 5.0 protocol, and support SBC, AAC and LHDC in the audio codec.

MediaTek announced the Dimensity 8200 processor
MediaTek officially announced the Dimensity 8200 processor on the morning of December 8, which is manufactured using TSMC’s next-generation 4nm process and features a 4-major-core + 4-minor-core design, with a Cortex A78 major core at up to 3.1GHz and an A55 minor core at up to 2.0GHz, and a 6-core Mali-G610 GPU.

The Tiangui 8200 integrates the Imagiq 785 image processor, which offers support for up to 320MP main camera, 4K 60Hz video recording, triple camera, and dual exposure HDR camera features. Other features include an APU 580 artificial intelligence chip with 4K AV1 video decoding support, and network support for full-band sub-5GHz 5G networks, Bluetooth 5.3, LE Audio, and Wi-Fi 6E.

EU Mandatory USB-C Deadline: December 28, 2024
The European Council previously approved the European Parliament’s new universal charger regulation on October 24, and the mandatory regulation has now been published in the EU Official Journal and is expected to enter into force in 20 days. After it comes into effect, each EU member state will have up to 24 months to incorporate it into their laws, meaning that after December 28, 2024, the USB-C interface will become mandatory in the EU for a range of electronic devices including phones, tablets and headphones, including iPhones, which will also be required to use the USB-C interface.

Both Skywind analyst Ming-Chi Kuo and Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman have said that Apple is testing iPhones with the USB-C interface and will use it on the iPhone 15 in 2023, with other devices that use the Lightning connector switching to USB-C.
