Intel launches Core Ultra mobile processors

On December 14, Intel introduced the Core Ultra mobile processor, which Intel says is the first processor built on Intel’s 4-process process with an on-chip AI gas pedal, the Neural Network Processing Unit (NPU), that delivers 2.5x AI-accelerated power efficiency compared to its predecessor.

Intel’s Core Ultra mobile processors utilize a “Performance Core P Core” + “Energy Efficiency Core E Core” + “On-Chip Core LPE Core” architecture, and Intel says that under low load conditions, only the “On-Chip Core LPE Core” can be used, thus reducing the overall power consumption of the SoC. From the data sheet, the Core Ultra series processors include two series, U and H, with power consumption of 15W and 28W respectively, of which the U series has 2+8+2 core specifications, with up to 4Xe Nucleus, while the H series has up to 6+8+2 core specifications, with up to 8Xe Nucleus. In the first quarter of next year, Intel will also release the Ultra 9 flagship model with a base power consumption of 45W, 6+8+2 core specifications, 8Xe core display. Official data shows that the flagship model of the currently listed Core Ultra series processors, Ultra 7 165H, has single-threaded performance less than the old i7-1370P, 12% higher than AMD 7840U; multi-threaded performance exceeds that of the i7-1370P by 8%, and 11% higher than that of the AMD 7840U.
